Tharangambadi, formerly Tranquebar, is a town in the Nagapattinam district of the Indian state of Tamil Nadu on the Coromandel Coast. It lies 15 kilometres north of Karaikal, near the mouth of a distributary named Uppanar of the Kaveri River.
